Welcome to my online section of Biol 2112
Course Description: This is the second part of a two semester Anatomy and Physiology course. Each semester is 4 credit hours, with a two hour lab component. This class is designed for pre-professional and nursing majors. Each system is presented in depth, preparing the student for the majors courses that will follow. The systems approach is used, incorporating structure and function from the "Blood" (chapter 19) through "Development and Inheritance" (chapter 29).
Lecture: Text: Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology; Martini: seventh edition packaged with Atlas and Applications Manual: On-line lecture notes and support materials; YOU CAN NOT SUCCEED IN THIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED TEXT AND SUPPLEMENTS. See Darton College Online Bookstore; If you already have the 6th edition, do NOT purchase the 7th edition. I will make every effort to reference both editions.
Our bookstore sells it packed with the extras. I am not sure if this is possible from an online store. In either case, make sure you get the things listed below.
A&P Applications manual: ISBN
0-8053-7286-5
Atlas: ISBN o-8053-7287-3
Interactive Physiology CD: ISBN 0-8053-6123-x
Lecture Notes: Available on-line, in your WebCT Vista class.
Lab: Notes are available on-line, in your WebCT Vista class. Your dissection specimens can be picked up in the division office or mailed to you.
Required Materials: Computer with internet access, textbook, atlas, applications manual, dissection specimens, colored pencils, three ring binder, camera for dissection labs (digital works best), computer/printer. A scanner, for submission of labs by email, is very helpful, in this class.

Should you be in an Online Course? The prevailing comment from students about this course is that it requires a TREMENDOUS amount of time. If you are taking an online course because the time offerings did not match your schedule, and you have ample time within the week to study, and you are a highly motivated self-learner, then you probably belong here. If you are taking this class online because your schedule is so full and hectic that you can't seem to fit the class into your schedule, you should NOT be taking this class on line. You will invest more time in this class in the online format than you would in the classroom.
