I would like to welcome you to my online class. I know that most of you took this class for the benefits that an online class allows you. The benefits that online classes offer are the flexibility and ability for you to take a class in another geographic region. Remember though, that along with the benefits are some challenges. These challenges can be minimized through planning and by interaction with the instructor. I emphasize the importance of the instructor interaction and want you to know that I check my email at least once a day or more and am available most times by phone or will return a phone call from my voicemail. I do not believe that there is such a thing as a silly question so do not feel like your question is not important because it is.

IMPORTANT
Your first step is to make sure your computer is equipped for distance learning. Visit the System Requirements section and get the Browser Tune-up for your machine. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOUR COMPUTER MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY ESPECIALLY DURING EXAMS.
The first day of class make sure that you can login on the WebCT BUSA 1100 and read through the syllabus.
You will log into your class by going to http://www.darton.edu/ and finding the WebCT tab at the top of the page. There is a dropdown menu that appears if you place the mouse over this tab and do not click. Once the dropdown box opens look for the WebCT Vista and click on that.
If you do not know what your password is then visit DCID lookup . I will have a calendar in my class so please click through the calendar for due dates. I MIGHT ADD TO THIS CALENDAR SO PLEASE USE IT THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER.
There are assignments that need to be started immediately so read through them. You expense log and virtual investing assignment both need to be started immediately since they take more than a month of calendar time to complete. I suggest that you also click on the various links so that you understand how to get around the site. If you have any problems understanding anything on the website please email me in the WebCT email or at Lisa.Leggett@darton.edu which are two different accounts. I have put important links and URLs in the remaining orientation so that you can answer some technical questions that you might have. There is a technical support area below that will also help you with technical problems. Remember to write your WebCT Id and password down so that you can remember it.

WEEKLY ACTIVITY You need to watch the discussion forum and participate. This is what I count as attendance. I will also offer extra credit discussions for those of you who want/need the extra points. These points will be added in with your assignment total.
