Course Description
An introduction to the legal, regulatory, political, social, ethical, cultural, environmental and technological issues which form the context for business; to include an overview of the impact of demographic diversity on organization.

 Course Objectives: 

  1. Identify the major components of capitalism and the role of government as a rule maker.
  2. Discuss the American legal system, particularly as it impacts business and consumers.
  3. Describe the functions of the major regulatory agencies that impact the business community.
  4. Name and describe the major antitrust laws and analyze their effect on business decision-making.
  5. Name and describe the major labor laws and analyze their effect on business decision-making.
  6. Discuss the impact of consumer protection legislation on both the business and consumer sectors of the economy.
  7. Analyze the effect of product liability laws on the economy of the nation.
  8. Compare and contrast the arguments concerning environmental protection laws.
