The text for this course is available through the Darton College Bookstore and includes a CD, and an access code for accessing the online content.

IMPORTANT, please read carefully:
You must have an ACCESS CODE to access the course!
Please tell the Bookstore personnel that you are taking the course online.  Only the textbooks for the online courses come with Access Codes. Also, due to “pop-ups”…DSL or high-speed Internet connection is recommended for the course.

Please make sure that the book you order has the correct ISBN#.  Otherwise, you will have the correct textbook…minus the access code…and will not be able to access the course.

 

Accessing Material

1.    On the first day of scheduled classes (see Academic Term Calendar), log on to WebCT using the Logon Instructions. YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE KEY THAT ACCOMPANIES THE TEXT BOOK TO ACCESS THE ONLINE COURSE. Please contact WebHelp, if you are unable to log on to the course.

2.    On the Course homepage, explore each icon and become familiar with its contents. The syllabus is found under Syllabus, grades can be viewed under My Grades, and course material for each chapter can be found under the Course Content icon. Discussions can be accessed or posted under the Discussion Forum icon, and e-mail can be sent and viewed under the E-mail icon.

3.   Once you log into the course thoroughly read the online syllabus.

  1. Please also note that the instructor may post important messages on the home page in red letters. This will be updated periodically. The Discussion Forum will also be used to post messages. It is recommended that you regularly check out the website to keep updated.

Course Work

Students are encouraged to follow a set schedule for completing the coursework.  It is vital to keep up with the reading.

Course Exams:  Dates/times for course exams are given in the syllabus. Exams must be taken on the scheduled dates. *Makeup Exams:  The instructor must be notified PRIOR to OR the day of the scheduled Exam giving notice as to why the Exam could not be taken as scheduled. Voicemail/e-mail is available 24 hours a day (317-6972), No exceptions.  To re-state:  An e-mail or voice mail must be received by the instructor prior to or on the Exam date in order to makeup an Exam.

Suggestions for students’ self-study activities.

Anatomy and Analysis Definitions

  • Complete the exercises in the text, in the order presented.
  • Complete the supplementary exercises in the accompanying computer software.
  • Label diagrams, with root and combining forms.
  • Sketch diagrams, e.g., abdominal regions.

Word parts and Their Definitions

  • Use of flash cards

Pronunciation of Terms

  • Use the accompanying audiotapes.
  • Practice underlining the primary accent.
  • Practice reading and saying the terms to others.
