Online or Not Online?
Darton College wants all its students to be successful and have a positive learning experience in all their courses. We ask you, therefore, to consider the following before you make the decision to take an online course:
An online course has a mandatory on-campus or online orientation.
An online course begins and ends with the other courses in the same semester. It follows a schedule and has deadlines for tests and assignments.
An online course may require more time than the same course taken in the classroom. A student needs to check his/her email daily and work on the course regularly.
An online course has minimum hardware and software requirements.
An online course may require that you come to campus to complete an assignment or take a test or exam.
An online course may not be right for you if you were not successful in the classroom section of the same course.
Use the Internet, including emailing, navigating the Web, downloading, printing out online materials, etc.
Use the computer, including word processing, required software application, file management, etc.
Follow the syllabus, learn independently, and meet the deadlines.
Follow online instructions on tests and assignments.
Contact your instructor in a timely manner if you need clarification about an assignment
Communicate with your instructor in a timely manner if you have difficulties meeting a deadline or understanding the course material.
Seek help from College support personnel in a timely manner if you need assistance with library, computer, network, and other learning support resources.
