ursue a Health Information Technology degree through the HIT Collaborative Program. Attend professional courses online through the accredited HIT program at Darton College and complete laboratory course requirements at Georgia Highlands College, Gordon College, or the Waycross College Campus.

s a Registered Health Information Technician, you will play an important role in helping the health care system work. You perform the data collection and analysis that doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals need to do their jobs well. raduates of Darton's Health Information Technology two-year program are eligible to take the national certification examination given by the American Health Information Management Association to become Registered Health Information Technicians.

The Health Information Technology Program at Darton College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics & Information Management Education.

linical assignments will be made by program faculty at various regional health care organizations. Students must be prepared to travel to the clinical training facility.

Technology Requirements
S
tudents enrolling in online HIT courses will need access to a computer that meets or exceeds the recommended minimum hardware requirements. See the Darton College Distance Learning website for technical requirements: http://online.darton.edu.
 
Additional Requirements
  • Completion of all required Learning Support courses
  • Transfer students must have a GPA of 2.0
  • Students with a degree from an accredited college or university may enroll in HIT courses provided prerequisites are met
  • A minimum grade of C is required in each HIT professional course
  • Liability insurance is required upon enrollment in the program
     
About the HIT Collaborative
T
he HIT Program is administered through Darton College, in collaboration with Georgia Highlands College, Gordon College, and Waycross College. The collaborative provides professional course work through online classes while allowing students to take lab classes through any academic partner or approved laboratory affiliate. Core course work can be transferred in or completed through any academic partner. Students must apply for admission to the program through Darton College.
